Little Italy on the Praire

A Vita Ita! Cultural Field Trip to Krebes, Oklahoma

📅 Saturday, August 30th, 2025 | ⏰ All-Day Event | 🚌 Departs from Tulsa at 8:00 AM

Join Vita Ita! for an unforgettable full-day adventure to Krebes, Oklahoma, a charming prairie town with deep Italian-American roots. Just a two-hour drive from Tulsa, Krebes offers a unique glimpse into the legacy of Italian immigrants who brought their traditions, flavors, and stories to the heart of Oklahoma.

Our day begins with an early morning departure, followed by a scenic drive set to curated Italian music and games. Upon arrival, we’ll explore Krebes with a guided walking tour, visiting historic landmarks like St. Lucia’s Chapel, the original Bellini Bakery, and the iconic Olive Tree Square. Afterward, we’ll relax in Lucia Park for a traditional Italian picnic lunch, complete with focaccia, caprese, granita, and classic lawn games like bocce ball.

In the afternoon, dive deeper into culture with a language and dialect workshop, then step back in time during our visit to the Krebes Heritage Museum, filled with heirlooms, photos, and stories from the Italian families who helped build the town. Later, we’ll take a sweet break at Caffè di Rosa, where you’ll enjoy espresso and pastries before ending the day with a live Italian folk music performance, dancing, and a toast with Krebes locals in the town square.

This is more than a field trip—it’s a celebration of identity, language, and the power of community. Little Italy on the Prairie is perfect for lovers of history, Italian culture, and anyone curious about how old-world traditions thrive in new places.
