What we do

At Vita Ita!, we celebrate the richness of Italian language, culture, and history through interactive learning, engaging events, and a strong sense of community. Whether you're a fluent speaker, a curious beginner, or simply someone who loves Italian culture, there's a place for you here!

We meet in person at the local library in Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as online via Zoom to make participation accessible and convenient. Every meeting is designed to be educational, fun, and community-oriented.

Our mission is to create a lively and supportive Italian-speaking community in Tulsa—a place where people come together to learn, connect, and bring a little bit of Italy into their everyday lives. We believe that the warmth, creativity, and joy of Italian culture can bring positive energy and connection to the Tulsa area.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved, you can contact our host, Truth Grant, directly via email.

Italian Book Club – Leggiamo insieme!

Our Italian Book Club is a key part of the Vita Ita! experience. Together, we explore Italian literature chronologically—from the roots of ancient Roman classics to the masterpieces of modern Italian authors. Each book is chosen to reflect Italy’s rich literary heritage and spark meaningful conversation.

To make things extra special, book club meetings feature:

  • Themed Snacks based on the region or time period of the book we're reading

  • Dress-Up Days, where members are encouraged to wear attire inspired by the story, characters, or historical setting

  • Supportive language resources to help members engage with Italian texts, even at a beginner level

Whether we’re reading Dante, Italo Calvino, Elena Ferrante, or ancient Roman poets, our book club brings Italian stories to life in a fun, creative, and accessible way.

Meet the Host

Truth Grant, who also goes by his Italian name Vero, is the passionate host and founder of Vita Ita!. A proud native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Truth is currently pursuing a degree in Spanish at Tulsa Community College with the goal of becoming a linguist and language educator.

Though his love for languages blossomed more recently, Truth has been studying Italian since the age of twelve, and it quickly became one of his greatest passions. His dream is to use his work in linguistics to spread a powerful message: language matters. He believes that language is not just a tool for communication, but a vital, deeply human connection to culture, identity, and community.

Truth is a strong advocate for expanding language education—both in early childhood and higher education—and aims to make language learning a more central part of our society. Through Vita Ita!, he brings this mission to life, creating a space where people in Tulsa can come together to celebrate, speak, and live the beauty of the Italian language and culture.
